Livonia is stepping onto the statewide stage with a once‑in‑a‑generation celebration — a one‑of‑a‑kind Michigan event marking America’s 250th anniversary with history, heart, and hometown pride. On Wednesday, July 8, the Civic Center City Hall Campus becomes the place to be as neighbors, families, and friends gather for an unforgettable evening that blends tradition with pure community spirit.
The excitement kicks off at 5:30 p.m. with a Community Picnic powered by the organizations that make Livonia strong. Enjoy hot dogs provided by the Livonia Spree Committee, prepared by Rotary AM and Rotary PM, supported by AlphaUSA, and served by the Livonia Lions. Add live music from the Livonia Civic Chorus, Robert Johnson and the Symphony Brass Quintet, and you’ve got the perfect summer soundtrack.
There will also be a photo booth where folks can have their pictures taken with one or more of the 56 Livonia residents dressed in 1776 attire, representing the 56 signers of the Declaration of Independence.

Then at 7:00 p.m., the spotlight turns to the Great Livonia American Reading of the Declaration of Independence — a stirring, communal moment as residents and local leaders bring the nation’s founding words to life. It’s reflective, inspiring, and uniquely ours.
